Our Traditions

What traditions have been passed on to us for our use and transmission to others?

1. A FUNDAMENTAL CONVICTION

That the Bible is true, completely reliable, necessary and sufficient as the final authority for our lives.

2. A SYSTEM OF CHURCH GOVERMENT

That is called ‘Presbyterian'.  We are connected with other churches in a denomination named the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

3. A FORM OF DOCTRINE

That is called ‘Reformed' and is summarized in the statement of faith historically known as The Westminster Confession - a statement true to those teachings to which the Apostle refers when he says:

"Thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed" Romans 6:17.

4. A HERITAGE

That calls us to compassionately care about the needs of people who, although fallen, are created in the image of God.  Our church is a Relational Community. The covenantal nature of the Gospel teaches us that God is glorified through close, forgiving relationships of friends and family.

What is Tradition vs. Traditionalism?

Tradition is the living faith of Godly people passed from generation to generation. Traditional ‘ism' is the dead faith of those who simply do not want to lose control.  We do not want to worship tradition.

To care about the needs of people, we must know them in their present settings.  To say that we believe in the Scriptures as our final, sufficient authority means that the Bible speaks to our needs in a relevant and timely manner in the language of today.

The Practice of these Beliefs we call the Worship of God.  Our worship is not trendy or flashy, but it is sincere and heartfelt.  Our worship is for God and He promises to take delight in being our Father in Heaven.  For our benefit and His glory, worship must be God-directed and Christ-centered.  As God's family we gather before Him to love and honor Him, and we scatter to make Him known to the world around us.
